The Avatar of Fear is a zine focusing on original avatar characters, or "avatarsonas" based on the Magnus Archives universe. It will be a free to download digital zine, and is currently in the DEVELOPMENT phase.

WHAT IS A ZINE?
A zine is a collaboration between many artists to create a small collection of art based around a theme. In our case this is a zine highlighting characters created based on the concepts of avatars in the TMA universe.
WHO ARE THE MODS?
The main organizer is Ashley (@archivistbottles), along with Addi (@clambatch) as the graphics mod, and Ron (@pyrelit) as the writing mod. Check the mods page for more info!
IS THIS FOR CHARITY OR SOMETHING?
Nope! This is not for profit nor is it a charity zine. This will be a free to download PDF for everyone once it is finished.
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE IN THIS?
Our aim is around 20 people! Max we will have 25 depending on the volume of artists and writers who apply. We will have approximately 15 artists and 5 writers although those numbers aren't set in stone.
IS IT PREFERRED TO USE A SONA OR OC FOR THIS?
We want to try and get an even count of sonas and ocs along with the entities represented for this, so really either are fine but it may be best to apply with one or both.
CAN I APPLY AS BOTH AN ARTIST AND WRITER?
Yes you can but you will only get one or the other.
WHAT KIND OF PIECE WOULD WE BE MAKING FOR THIS?
For the zine we want a full piece of the avatar in their 'element' so to speak. Writing will be in statement form but can cover an avatar's domain or an average statement. Artists will depict their avatar in a piece that lets people get to know a little about the character (yes, you will be drawing a background).
WHAT WILL YOU BE LOOKING FOR IN APPLICANTS?
We want to know if you can complete work and if you can to so on a timed schedule mainly. Artists will be required to draw backgrounds and writers will be required to write approx. 3K worth of words.
DO WE HAVE TO HAVE AN IMAGE READY BEFORE WE APPLY?
No! What we are asking is you have portfolios ready and preferably some piece of media around your sona/oc you will be using. You will be making content for the zine after you have been accepted.
WHAT IF I WANT TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAT ISN'T LISTED AS WHAT YOU WANT FOR THE ZINE?
On the application there is a space to state what you want to do for the zine, but if you are already accepted and have an idea you want to discuss you are free to discuss it with the mods.
WHAT IF I GET MY PIECE DONE BEFORE THE DUE DATE?
That's great! You are allowed to send us the finished piece whenever! But once you do we will mark you down as finished so if you make any changes please let us know!
HOW WILL THIS BE DISTRIBUTED?
For now we have decided to host the PDF file on Google Docs to be viewed and downloaded by whoever wants it.
WILL EVERYONE GET A RESPONSE FROM THEIR APPLICATIONS WHETHER OR NOT THEY GOT IN?
Due to the probable volume of the applicants we are going to have to say no for now. We will make sure to get a hold of our selected artists and writers as best we can and let people know when confirmation emails are sent.
WILL DATES CHANGE? I'M NOT SURE I CAN MAKE X DEADLINE?
Dates probably wont be subject to change unless something happens so that all of the mods cannot handle it. But if you get accepted and know a date won't work due to an important reason we can make something work for you. (ie. we know our final dates run close to times for finals to those going to school this semester so if you are afraid of making the final due dates please let us know).
WILL YOU ALLOW AVATARS THAT ARE UNDER TWO FEARS (EX: EYE AND FLESH)?
Yes and no. It depends on how well balanced the zine is on entity representation. For now we will say if you have one please do not make it your first choice and instead make a note of it at the end of the application and if we do decide to allow them, if you are picked one of us will personally message you to talk about doing a piece with a dual entity avatar.
